We offer family-friendly options to challenging, exhilarating routes:
- along the Indian Ocean with stunning views over the rugged coastline. Walk along an iconic bridge and go cave exploring.
- travel through the indigenous Wilderness forest. Catch your breath or take a refreshing plunge at the waterfall.
- reach the mountain summit at 1598m. Beautiful views over the Swartberg mountain range and our drawn out coastline.
Canoeing is a great way to experience the area while gently floating along the current.
Paddle through the indigenous Wilderness forest, enjoy the abundance of birdlife and do a rope swing plunge along the way
This activity starts with a beach walk to a mini peninsula of fossilized dune which has eroded to resemble a Lion! This place is a snorkeling paradise at low tide with an abundance of intertidal marine life.
After snorkeling we'll climb the 'lion's' head and lookout for the resident Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphins surfing the waves.
For the avid birdwatcher, there is no other area in Africa like the Garden Route. The area offers a diverse range of habitats and is home to approximately 300 species of birds, making it an ideal destination for bird watching. Wilderness especially has healthy populations of sought after endemics such as the Cape Sugarbird, Orange Breasted Sunbird, Protea Seedeater, and Black Harrier.
Together with our knowledgeable local guide you'll rediscovered species, share exciting observations with the birding community and have a fun time exploring Wilderness.
Enjoy a short nature hike to find a fantastic hidden fresh water quarry. Do a backflip off the highest cliff at 16m, or start off easy with the 6-8m jumps.
After the jumping and swimming we'll sit back, dry up in the sun, enjoy some refreshments and take in the magnificent views over the Outeniqua Mountains.
New Moon and Full Moon are the times to experience the unique exposure to the intrigue of life in the intertidal zone. The Low Spring Tide exposes areas usually hidden from sight ...and our guide, Judy, reveals the mysteries of the amazing creatures living there.
Under torchlight the sandy shore and the tidal pools suddenly become alive as you discover the diversity of marine life and learn about how they all survive in this constantly changing environment.
The Garden Route provides spectacular fishing. There's a variety of fish on offer such as the Blacktail and the feisty Bass in Groenvlei.
Our local guide, Schalk, we'll show you the ropes and ensure an unforgettable day on one of the lakes in the area.
The ultimate refreshing and exhilarating adventure experience. It involves exploring the Map of Africa river canyon by means of hiking, swimming and optional cliff jumping.
Every Saturday local famers bring their produce to the local market. Here they cook up mouth-watering breakfasts and lunches made from the freshest ingredients. The market hosts over 150 food and craft stalls aswell as local live entertainment.
The market is also great for kids with a jungle gym, SandArt, and choo-choo trips.
Rides venture out from our ranch into the indigenous forests of the Outeniqua mountains in the Wilderness outlines.
A trek through the wondrous forest on horseback with an optional trot now and again for those who are experienced or learning to ride made this an unforgettable horse ride
Our local mountain bike guide, Theo, has carefully chosen routes that will provide riders of all levels with a supply of adrenaline, excitement, scenery and amazing views.
Fly through streams, shady fern glades and forest tunnels with guide Theo. Don't forget to keep a close lookout for the Knysna Turaco, a troop of Baboons or the elusive Cape Leopards famed to roam our forests.
